[ctusers] Election of CTUG chair

You may have noticed that one of the items in the business meeting at
the next CTUG meeting on 23rd October is the election of a new chair for
the group. My second term comes to an end after this meeting (is it
possible for time to fly so fast?) and under the CTUG constitution I
cannot be re-elected.

It would do wonders for my peace of mind (and that of my fellow CTUG
officers) if we could arrive at the meeting on 23rd October with a
couple of names to vote on. So, are you interested in taking up the
chairmanship? The role involves arranging the annual CTUG meeting
together with the local host, CTUG secretary and communications officer,
acting as the "visible face" of the CTUG, and liaising with other
professional groups such as IPEM, ImPACT and HPA. Past CTUG
chairpersons have also been involved in longer-term projects such as the
CT patient dose survey; I have been interested in automated CT image
analysis software. And last but not least, you get to meet lots of
people who share your passion for CT physics!

I cannot speak too highly of the great team that Ian Negus and Nick Keat
make; it's been a privilege to work with them. For those that might be
put off by the thought of the paperwork I can report that the group is
run very efficiently using the website and email.

If you are interested please let me know by email, or call me on
02078082514.

Kind regards

Elly
